Brian Reed
Director, Yoga Instructor, Personal Trainer & Nutritionist

Being a new dad brings me much joy and greater meaning in life each new day. As a young obese teenager in the early 90's I began practicing yoga and fitness with renowned fitness guru Matt Furey. In 1996 I began studying with Kundalini Yoga Master Sri Anandi Ma, and silent monk from India Baba Hari Das. I was first certified to teach yoga in 2002 after graduating from Mt. Madonna Center's 200-hour Ashtangha Yoga Teacher Training program. After moving to the East Coast and studying with Lauren Fawcett in 2004 I graduated from her 200-hour YTT program. After teaching for several years throughout the greater Boston area I moved back to the West Coast and in 2006 graduated from the 500-hour Bikram YTT program. While in Boston I completed 200 hours of massage training at the Palmer Institute of Massage and Bodywork in Salem, Mass. In the Summer 2004 I graduated from the Therapeutic Massage Program at the Cypress Health Institute of Santa Cruz, and became a licensed Massage Practitioner in the State of California. In 2008 I graduated from the National Personal Training Institute in San Francisco where I also earned my certification in Nutrition Counseling. I earned my B.A. in Literature at the University of California Santa Cruz with concentration in Native American Studies in 2003. Throughout 2008 I walked across the nation from San Francisco to Washington D.C. with The Longest Walk as part of a grass-roots organization lead by the American Indian Movement. I've also volunteered for Hopi and Navajo families in the four corner's region and to feed the homeless throughout my youth. I believe that good health is mental, physical and spiritual oneness is ultimately a human rights issue that everyone should have access to regardless of income or background. In 2010 after many years of working for other yoga and wellness centers, I founded Ayuh Yoga in an effort to make the best yoga, fitness and wellness offerings available to everyone.
